Implementation of the GCCA
The GCCA dialogues have resulted, within the last two years, in Joint Declarations or engagements between the EU and regional groups, respectively the Caribbean, Africa, the Pacific and the ACP.
Specific support to countries
Since 2008, the Global Climate Change Alliance tackles climate change adverse effects on communities through active projects implemented within eighteen most vulnerable countries : Bangladesh, Belize, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Guyana, Jamaica, Maldives, Mali, Mozambique, Mauritius, Nepal, the Pacific Region, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, Tanzania and Vanuatu.
These projects last from two to seven years, implying the participation of several partners on the field and bilateral contributions of a wide range of stakeholders, from international organizations to States representatives.
As regard the specific support of the European to deliver on its commitment, from 2008 to 2010, around €100 additional million were made available for the GCCA from the EU budget and bilateral contributions from Sweden and the Czech Republic, plus € 40 million as part of the 10th European Development Fund to promote regional approaches in Africa, the Pacific and the Caribbean.
